Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes Clover Different?

Clover is different because it's simple cms. It's simple to set up and simple to use. There's nothing to install. Clover works with PHP, ASP.Net and Javascript. It's flexible because it's based on web services.

Your web content is "decoupled" from your website. This means that if you need to move your site, your content stays in the same place and your new site, or freshly moved site, can reconnect to Clover and pull the same content with no messy exports, or database backups.

No templates. Your design does not have to conform to a templated layout. Clover conforms to your design.

Who Is Clover For?

If you have a website and you want the ability to update your content, Clover is for you. If you want to manage your website content and you don't want to change your current web host, or upset your site, Clover is for you. If you are looking for simplicity in a cms system, Clover is for you.

If you are looking for a robust publishing platform with advanced security trimming and workflows, Clover is not for you. For those in need of such a system, we recommend Wordpress or Drupal.

Does it Work With Multiple Sites?

Yes. Clover Content was designed for those with many websites. If you manage several websites, Clover will centrally manage all of your sites in one place. You can set up unlimited users for your sites with 3 different security levels: users who can manage all of your sites, users who can manage a single site and users who can only manage (or see) content for a single site.

Can One Site Be Set Up To Pull Content On Many Sites?

No. Because Clover Content centrally hosts your content it would be possible to set up a single site within the Clover system and pull content from the Clover database to many sites. This is strictly prohibitted per our terms of service. Only one Clover site per client site is permitted at this time.

How Does Clover Connect to My Site?

One of the goals of Clover is to allow your website to function dynamically with as little impact  as possible. Most content management systems require you to install software on your server. To do this, your server must work with whatever technology the cms system is designed to work with. This generally requires you to have a database on your server as well.

Clover hosts your content on its own database, requiring nothing of your current web host. You simply login to the Clover administrative site to update and add your content. By adding a snippet of code to the web pages that you want to work dynamically your site pulls your content from the Clover database and instantly diplays it on your site. This site is using it. In fact, this page's content is coming from Clover.

What is The Site Setup Process Like?

To set up your website, you simply create an account, log into Clover and add the code snippets to your site. Complete instructions on how to add the code snippets are provided once you log in.

After the Clover snippets have been plugged in, you simply add the content from your site pages into Clover so it looks the same as it did before you began. After that, you can log into the Clover administrative site and edit your content as you please.

What Happens If I Decide to Stop Using Clover for my Site?

If you should decide that Clover Content does not meet your content management needs, we will backup all of the content you have stored in Clover's database. After we have a backup of your content, we will send it to you. Remove the Clover code snippets to discontinue using the Clover services. It is our goal to make the setup and/or cancellation process as painless as possible.
